I looooovvveee holidays! Decorating…celebrating…baking holiday themed food! I enjoy it all! Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner, I wanted to create a Valentine’s Day centerpiece for my table and put a few decorations on my mantle. The best part is, each of the decorations I used was $1.00! I was in Knoxville on Tuesday and decided to drop by the Dollar Tree after I had lunch to see what kinds of decorations I could fine. One tip for shopping for decorations at a place like the Dollar Tree is to go several weeks before the holiday you are decorating for. The closer you get to the holiday, the smaller the selection. On the table I put a tablecloth, and stacked red and white doilies on top of each other to make place mats.
Then, I decided that the table needed a cute Valentine’s Day centerpiece. I used a red charger and filled some mason jars I had with red, white and pink hearts. I topped it off with a tea light candle. I would recommend using a larger candle than a tealight because it was challenging to get the tealight positioned correctly in the jar. I ended up using tongs to help with the positioning. To decorate the outside of each jar, I took a red and white ribbon and cut it into thirds and wrapped it around. I secured it with tape because I’m low tech like that 😉 I set the charger on a Valentine’s themed scarf to break up the white in the tablecloth. Super easy and it turned out perfectly!
I also decided to decorate the mantle of my fireplace with a Valentine’s theme. I used 5 pink hearts that came in a package together and put a LOVE sign in front of them. I had also purchased a Valentine’s themed box to provide a little more interest.
Altogether, the table cost $9.00 to put together (I already had the mason jars and tealights) and the decorations for the mantle cost $3.00. Cute and easy Valentine’s decorations for a total of $12.00. Can’t beat that! How do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?
